Collection Instructions
- Standard phlebotomy practices.
- Do not draw specimens through heparinized catheters that contain benzalkonium chloride.
- Do not use specimens obtained through catheters used to infuse hyperalimentation fluid.
- Every effort should be made to fill vacuum tubes completely when collecting blood.
 
- Do not refrigerate specimens before centrifugation.
- Centrifuge specimens and remove serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection.
- Specimens should remain tightly capped.
