Limitations
- Ortho reports a bias with the following:
- Phenol at 10 mg/dL can have a +15.0 mg/dL bias
- Sodium Thiosulfate at 20 mg/dL can have a -11.7 mg/dL bias
 
- Ortho reports no significant effect with the following: 
- Bilirubin up to 27 mg/dL
- Hemoglobin up to 1000 mg/dL
- Lipemia up to 800 mg/dL
 
- The following interpretive data is visible to practitioner:
- Phenol in the toxic range will create a positive bias, Sodium Thiosulfate in the sub therapeutic range will create a negative bias.
 
Useful For
Salicylate belongs to a class of analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory drugs that includes aspirin. Salicylate measurements are used in the diagnosis of Salicylate overdose and in monitoring Salicylate therapy.
