BD Vacutainer tube or other sterile container
Min. Volume
0.5 mL
Specimen > 2 mL is prefered as it allows for concentration prior to staining and culturing.
Special Instructions
If submitted in blood culture bottles, add Fildes enrichment media and put the bottles on the BacT Alert.
Test Included
Gram Stain, Culture, Sensitivites (if applicable)
TAT
Gram stain: 1 hour
Culture: 5 days for final
