Patient Preparation
For 24 hours before specimen collection, patient should not take multivitamins or dietary supplements (eg, hair, skin, and nail supplements) containing biotin (vitamin B7).
Collection Instructions
- Standard phlebotomy practices.
- Centrifuge specimens and remove serum from all cellular material within 2 hours of collection.

Reflex Testing
- The presence of HBsAg in samples found to be reactive in the VITROS HBsAg test will undergo confirmation by a neutralization reaction using human antibody to HBsAg (anti-HBs) before a positive HBsAg is reported.
- Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) RNA Detection and Quantification by Real-Time Reverse Transcription-PCR, Serum will be reflexed for a Reactive Hepatitis C Antibody Screen result.
